Cheese Beer Bread - Easy No Yeast Bread Recipe (1)

Oh, homemade bread, how I love you!

But I don't love the wait. There is mixing, kneading and lots of rising time. Then there are quick bread recipes like this one. You only need an hour to get your bread fix. And you probably have the ingredients for this Cheese Beer Bread Recipe already in your kitchen.

What ingredients are needed for Cheese Beer Bread?

  • flour
  • baking powder
  • salt
  • honey
  • beer
  • cheese

The ingredients in this no yeast bread recipe are very basic. They can also be varied. This time I made it with white flour but you can use whole wheat flour too. I used cheddar cheese but any type of cheese can be used and dried herbs are great added to the batter if you desire.

This is a recipe where you can use your favorite beer that you would usually drink. I don't like to admit this but I used Miller Lite. Miller Lite is not my favorite but we have friends that drink it so I always have a few bottles in my fridge. The beer worked fine. Next time, I would love to try a fancy ale to see how it changes the flavors in this beer bread recipe.

What size loaf does this quick bread recipe make?

The cuteness factor got the better of me and I used my mini loaf pan for these loaves. I made three loaves but this can be baked as one big loaf also. The mini loaves take about 35 to 45 minutes to bake while one large loaf takes about an hour.

I do like mini loaves because you can use one or two and freeze the other for another time. Either way, this beer bread recipe makes some great loaves to eat.

How do you store this no yeast bread?

This cheesy beer bread recipe will stay fresh for several days if stored at room temperature in an air tight plastic bag. Wrapping it in plastic wrap insures that no air will get in. It can also be frozen for up to a month as long as it's tightly wrapped.

What do you serve this quick bread with?

Cheesy Beer Bread is great to serve next to soups, chilis and stews! Here are some of my favorites:

I wonder if I can make bread with the yeast? As it turns out, both brewing yeast and baking yeast is in fact Saccharomyces cerevisiae. I attempted to bake some bread with beer yeast, and believe it or not, turned out great!

What is the bread without yeast? ›

Unleavened bread, or bread without yeast, is a typical Jewish food, the name derives from the Greek azymos (without yeast) which in Jewish becomes mazzah, and it is the symbol of the Passover that recalls the Exodus from Egypt: it was the bread of the fugitives because it was quickly prepared by the fleeing Jews.

The best thing about quick breads is that the options are limitless when it comes to ingredients.

What is the best beer to use for beer bread? ›

Lighter beers, such as lagers, ales and pilsners, will give your bread a lighter color, and mild taste that just about everyone loves. Darker beers like stouts and porters make a darker-colored loaf and have a stronger beer flavor. Hoppy beers like IPAs will give your bread a more bitter taste.

What happens if you don't add yeast to beer? ›

What happens when you forget to add yeast to homebrew ale or beer? If you have sanitized everything properly, and the container is properly sealed, nothing happens. The wort just sits there and does nothing. The sugars in the wort don't ferment and no alcohol is produced.

What happens if I add more yeast to my beer? ›

Too much yeast can lead to an overly active fermentation process, which can cause a beer to become too carbonated. When this happens, the yeast consumes sugars and produces carbon dioxide gas. The gas builds up in the beer, causing it to become excessively foamy and carbonated.

How do you make bread rise without yeast? ›

Instead of using yeast to make the bread rise, quick breads rely on other leavening agents like baking soda and baking powder to get height. What kind of bread did Jesus eat? ›

Thus many theologians conclude that Christ would have used unleavened bread. St. John, in his rendition of the Gospel, says that the Last Supper took place the night before the feast of Unleavened Bread (cf. Jn 13), and some scholars argue that the bread would have been leavened.

What is the difference between bread with yeast and bread without yeast? ›

Yeastless breads are made with chemical leaveners like baking soda and baking powder. They have a less chewy, more cakelike crumb than yeasted breads. They are also faster to make, since all you do is mix the batter and put it in the oven.

What are the 7 quick bread ingredients? ›

Quick breads are prepared with flour, eggs, sugar, fats and liquids including milk, buttermilk, or sour cream, and each plays a part in the overall texture and flavor of the finished product. The strains of yeast used to make beer, bread, and wine come from the species of yeast called Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
