This southwest chipotle sauce is the perfect spread or dipping sauce for any occasion, we love it on quesadillas, sandwiches, and dipping sweet potato fries in it.
For those of you who love the southwest chipotle sauce at Subway, this recipe is for you!
After making a recent batch of my creamy chipotle sauce, my hubby mentioned this Subway sauce and wanted to know if I could replicate it. He was looking for something a bit more dressing tangy instead of limey. In other words, something a little less hot and a bit more tex mex.
Since I consider myself a bit of a chipotle sauce expert nowadays (check out my honey-chipotle sauce, raspberry chipotle sauce, Hot and Spicy Chipotle Dip and BBQ Chipotle Sauce recipes), I was up to the challenge! It took a few tries, tweaks, and experimenting, but I finally met Mr. Hungry’s approval for a Subway southwest chipotle sauce copycat!
This southwest chipotle sauce is creamy, a little tangy with a hint of sweetness, full of southwest flavor with a small kick. We love it on just about everything, but most especially on sandwiches and for dipping sweet potato fries into. Then, I got the idea to make quesadillas with it (will share tomorrow) and it was game over, I was addicted.
Now, let’s get you addicted too!
How to Make Southwest Chipotle Sauce
It’s super easy, no cooking required! Just pile all the ingredients into a blender or food processor and let her rip!
You can adjust to your desired spicy level by starting with one chipotle pepper in adobo sauce and working your way up until you reach your desired level. I got to about a half a can before we decided it was perfect!
Just remember, you can always add more pepper, you can’t take it away!
Let me know if you try this one!

Hey there. I really like this sauce. Do you have any recommendations that can help me hold it without it thickening? The initial consistency is perfect but it solidifies way too much and I can’t really use it without mixing it after its been held for a day.
Thanks!

Interesting! That didn’t really happen to me. I would try a bit more yogurt, or as with any sauce, you can always thin it out with water. Just obviously mix really well after you add the water!
